Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it ‘the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul.’ The mere imitation, however accurate, of what is in Nature, entitles no man or woman to the sacred name of ‘Artist.’

I want to ask you a question. You know I do not have an educated understanding of art. I was wondering does it offend an artist when you look at their work and you don't see the intended meaning, but it touches you in a different way?
no not at all, maybe with some artists it would, but only the ones who have immovable egos. Most artists would accept with open arms a different view point, and with a hug and tears of joy if the person actually got what they were trying to say.
Most artists realize that the object de-Art has it's own life and Identity, and will live it's own life, like raising a child and letting it go to live and become what it needs to be.
I've experienced both sides of art now and realize that being educated in art is only beneficial to me the artist in understanding what other artists in history have done before me and how it fits in with the scheme of things. Other than that art is a very broad subject, the artists soul purpose is to share their view of the world and document it in their own personal manner. All other artists types are only hobbyists and mere decorators.
A real artist is like a "Shaman" of a tribe....either regionally or globally...
